Mesothelioma Awareness Day

Today, 26 September, is Mesothelioma Awareness Day in the USA.  The day was set aside by Congress as a time to raise the public's awareness of the dangers of asbestos exposure. The event was started by a group of Meso Foundation volunteers in 2004.  The level of public involvement and awareness has increased every subsequent year on this date

September 26th is a day to remember those who have fallen victim to Mesothelioma and the effects of asbestos exposure. It is a day to offer a revitalized hope for those who suffer with the disease today. And it is a day to focus on the means to find an answer A CURE for those who are stricken with the disease tomorrow.

  1. Mesothelioma is certainly such an ill-fated ailment, and really may well have been preventable had most people known back then what we realize now. It is also a waste that several men and women get upset about the asbestos cancer advertising campaigns on tv, but those afflicted have to be paid for fairly IMO.

  2. The risks of asbestos exposure have been known about for many years. In the UK, measures to minimise risk have been a legal requirement since the 1960s. The sad thing is that disease could have been prevented in most people who are now being diagnosed, had those responsible for causing exposure to asbestos taken their responsibilities seriously back in the 60s, 70s, 80s......
